چکیده

Essential oils are widely recognized as natural alternatives to pharmaceutical antibacterial and antifungal agents. With respect standard pharmaceutics, the advantages of essential their (i) low production costs, (ii) lack chemical biochemical drawbacks that intrinsic synthetic process (iii) good tolerance by humans. On other hand, liquid nature poses concerns about actual application in different therapeutic issues regarding persistence ability control or prolong drug release. In this study, two from oregano winter savory showing features were complexed a solid state with beta-cyclodextrin. Host–guest inclusion complexes characterized using FT-IR spectroscopy, ESI-MS GC-MS techniques. Manyfold terpenic non-terpenic components could be observed unambiguously identified being included inside carbohydrate hosts. Many them provided specific biocidal action. Indeed, oil host–guest products tested against Candida species an S. aureus reference strain, effectively maintained performances. Solid-state tablets embedded polyvinylpyrrolidone obtained. These results pave way for solid-state treatments.

Molecular modeling of β-cyclodextrin inclusion complexes with pharmaceutical compounds

Ten molecularly diverse compounds, selected on the basis of the standard free energy of complexation with β-cyclodextrin, have been used as training set of molecular docking experiments. After the conformational search of each compound the Molecular Interaction Evaluation (MOLINE) program has been adopted to generate the inclusion geometries. The recognition process has been thermodynamically e...

Antibacterial electrospun nanofibers from triclosan/cyclodextrin inclusion complexes.

The electrospinning of nanofibers (NF) from cyclodextrin inclusion complexes (CD-IC) with an antibacterial agent (triclosan) was achieved without using any carrier polymeric matrix. Polymer-free triclosan/CD-IC NF were electrospun from highly concentrated (160% CD, w/w) aqueous triclosan/CD-IC suspension by using two types of chemically modified CD; hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin (HPβCD) and h...
